Research Documentation: Flaschenzettel, Etiket, Wine Label – an incomplete examination
The phonetic proximity of wine and design also corresponds to one in terms of content. Wine is not only a natural product, but also something made, shaped. In the product wine, its historical, cultural, technological and economic contexts, their tendencies and developments can be read. The external appearance reflects this in the shape and design of the bottle, especially in the design of the label.
The overall appearance of a wine bottle, its design, is largely determined by the label. However, the label serves not only to identify the content, but also to visually differentiate and recognize the product. Like almost no other medium of a narrowly defined product genre, the wine label is a playground for creative debate and experimentation. From a perceptual-psychological point of view, the formal design elements influence both the purchase decision and the perception of taste.
