The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration becomes THWS Business School
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt University (THWS) has been transformed into the THWS Business School as of winter semester 2023/24. This repositioning reflects our substantive development over the past years and adapts to the new environment of a technical university. Our approach combines practical studies with an international perspective, digitalization competencies and future skills.
The THWS Business School now offers six bachelor's, three master's, and one MBA program. These range from traditional business and media disciplines to new, specialized areas such as business analytics, digital rescue management, and soon culinary and wine tourism. All degree programs focus on modern business models and digital challenges in a global world.
The new name also underlines the strategic focus on internationality with three English-language degree programs (BA, MA and MBA). With over 100 partner universities worldwide, 17 double degree exchange programs, over 300 outgoing and incoming students per year and numerous international cooperations, THWS Business School is positioned in the top group of business faculties.
The high practical orientation distinguishes the Business School from universities and their faculties of economic sciences. For about 30 years, the faculty, as a pioneer in Germany, has pursued a practice-oriented teaching approach with companies as project partners, supplemented by guest lectures and cooperations with the business community. The THWS Business School clearly focuses on training for business practice!
The THWS Business School offers an extensive range of modern technologies in the field of digitalization, including digital infrastructures and a laboratory cluster with VR, 3D printing and business simulations. This equipment and the teaching content on digitalization as well as digital teaching methods such as business games prepare students for the digital transformation.
The further development of the faculty into a business school also aims to be more present on the education market and increase the attractiveness of THWS as a whole. Although the unit is still legally organized as a faculty, it now presents itself as an independent and important part of the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences.
Students are already benefiting from the stronger focus on the skills of the future. From the summer semester 2024, the THWS Business School will then increasingly present itself with a new positioning and external image, which is currently being sharpened in a marketing project under the direction of Prof. Dr. Markus Besenbeck.
