Pioneering Future Skills for an Era of Global Transformation

The Master of Arts in Managing Global Dynamics (MGD) at the THWS Business School in Würzburg, Germany continues to set benchmarks in academic agility, evolving to meet the challenges of an increasingly volatile and interconnected world.

Visionary Foundations

The success of the MGD program stands on the foundation laid by its visionary founders, namely Prof. Dr. Axel Bialek, Prof. Dr. Rainer Wehner and Markus Engert starting the program in 2021. Their early foresight regarding the necessity of a curriculum that navigates the complexities of global dynamics and rapid geopolitical shifts has proven as the right thing to do. By recognizing the need for leaders who can synthesize diverse global perspectives, they created a program that was essential for today’s strategic landscape and a portfolio of an international business school.

Innovative Focus on Future Skills

Under the guidance of the new Program Director Prof. Dr. Harald Bolsinger and hand-picked entrepreneurial and academic experts, MGD has now undergone a first deep strategic transformation, already implemented for the next intake. This team has meticulously realigned the didactics to address new necessities by integrating cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the core of the learning experience: From the use of domain specific state-of-the-Art AI-Tools like icanpreneur in Digital Business Models or a full set of market-related AI-Tools in Consumer Behaviour to produce an AI consumer avatar, the pro-active use of scientific excellency AI-tools like Scopus AI and others in Legal Aspects of International Trading, Competitive Strategies and the Research Seminars up to a complete new way of AI-based reflexive teaching in Sustainability Competence and Ethical Reflections. AI-based reflexive teaching is based on an in class-flipped-classroom approach and includes diverse sets of LLMs as well as offline AI-use developed in early 2026 across two faculties, live tested in different teaching surroundings in summer term 2026 and in this moment now adapted for the next MGD intake.

Central to the whole transformation is the over years developed “8i-Didactics” framework, finalized now with international reviews and published as Deep Impact Teaching with 8i-Didactics: The Eightfold Path to Heartfelt Projects. The framework is the new foundation for the whole program as a sophisticated approach designed to maximize students understanding and critical thinking in a culturally diverse environment by finding an individual way of becoming successful in a diverse team.

Learning Without Borders in High Flexibility

The program has embraced a modernized delivery model, utilizing a mix of online, hybrid, and in-person formats. This new approach ensures that students can balance high-level academic experiences with the demands of building an international career, all while participating in the vibrant, collaborative culture that defines THWS Business School. Management Control, Legal Aspects of International Trading, Organisation Effectiveness and Performance are taught in mandatory presence, to ensure a minimum of “real” encounters in Würzburg. Sustainability Competence and Ethical Reflections, Digital Business Models, Competitive Strategies and Consumer Behaviour as well as the Research Project are set up hybrid or online, still opening opportunities for real world case studies. This opens the opportunity to students from abroad to start directly, regardless of whether they still have to wait for their visa and enhances flexibility. The third semester was redesigned to be delivered entirely in hybrid/online formats. This shift is intentional, providing students the freedom to conduct research directly abroad and to author their Master’s thesis with a truly international and cross-border perspective.

Complementing this academic learning flexibility is a renewed commitment to public visibility, with the MGD program actively expanding its footprint across major social media platforms, starting to foster a global community of practice and discourse. We took the first steps in posting about the Master’s program and will enhance the content, when there is relevant information beyond Ai-generated informational noise. The Future: Always on the move into the right direction!

Managing Global Dynamics means to set sail to stay always on the move into the right direction! With our main partner in Italy for a semester abroad, we will refine the modules of the second semester to stay at the cutting edge of teaching content. Building on that, new options for partnerships and expanded learning formats will be investigated to broaden student horizons.
